When the adenoids enlarge, the following can occur:

chronic ear infections, known as chronic otitis media

chronic or repeated tonsillitis, or inflammation of the tonsils

difficulty breathing through the nose

excessive snoring

obstructive sleep apnea, which causes episodes of not breathing during sleep
