What are the signs and symptoms of the condition?

Most people with mitral valve prolapse have no symptoms at all. The condition is usually found during a regular physical examination. Those who do have symptoms may have the following:

anxiety

chest pain

fainting

fatigue

palpitations, or an unusual awareness of the heart beating in the chest

panic attacks

a sensation that one is about to pass out

shortness of breath
